Product Design
This course helped me pursue my fascination of design by allowing me to explore the various aspects of the design process.
I enjoyed the teamwork on projects where activities such as brainstorming, opinion and feedback from both staff and peers helped the process progress. Design management expertise was called upon to both keep records of design liaison, research & results, and also used to plan time effectively so deadlines were met.
Line drawings and hand renderings were important in both the concept generation and development phases of the process, but my enthusiasm was drawn to the graphic design and computer animation aspects. Starting off using AutoCAD for both 2D & 3D modelling, I developed an interest for 3D virtual environments. This attraction came into its own when I was able to use 3D Studio to make numerous 3D models and animation for both realism and to explain how a product works. Graphic design skills were used to give the product an identity and branding allowing it to stand out on its own.
The completed product, coupled with presentation techniques using a range of different media, helped me to present to both large and small groups of people.
